Lockdown cleaning tips – Living room
We spend a lot of time in our living rooms so they can easily become cluttered and dirty, especially as we are finding ourselves spending more time at home. If you have been keeping on top of your home cleaning routine this should not take you long to tackle. If not, don’t panic it will just take a little longer.
Sofas/pillowcases
Take any removable cushions off the sofa to vacuum underneath. The cushion covers may be able to be washed in the washing machine, use your favourite fabric freshener to freshen up before replacing and plumping up.
You might even be lucky enough to find some loose change!
Blinds / curtains
Vacuum the curtains from top to bottom to get rid of the dust, you can also use the brush nozzle on the vacuum to remove the dust off the blinds. Use warm soapy water to wipe over the blinds to get rid of any dirt starting from top to bottom on each slat.
Inside Windows
Use warm soapy water to clean the surrounds of the windows and sills before using your preferred glass cleaner to clean the window glass.
Cobb Webbs
Starting from one corner of the ceiling work your way round the room removing the cobb webs from each corner, using a cob webb brush or the long hose on the vacuum cleaner. Don’t forget to check inside light fittings and vacuum or shake off any dust.
Polishing
Use your preferred polish to polish furniture and ornaments around the room, this is a great opportunity to maybe change the room around or declutter surfaces.
Wood work
This is a job that we all seem to overlook, so do not feel guilty if this hasn’t been done in a while. Use some warm soapy water to wipe down doors, handles and skirting boards to get ride of dirt marks.
Vacuuming
Vacuum the floor getting behind and under all furniture, using the nozzle to get in all the corners and edges.
