The Coronation of King Charles III is a historic event that will be steeped in tradition and pageantry. 7.15am: Guests start to arrive at Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is the historic church where the coronation will take place. Guests will start to arrive at 7.15am for security checks.

9am: The congregation will begin to be seated inside Westminster Abbey at 9am. This includes members of the public who have been invited to attend.

9.30am: Royal family members, heads of state, and former prime ministers will start to arrive at Westminster Abbey at 9.30am. It’s a chance to see some of the most prominent figures in the world gather for this historic occasion.

9.45am: The Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry will assemble for the royal procession at 9.45am. It promises to be an impressive display of pomp and circumstance.

10.20am: The King and Queen will set off from Buckingham Palace at 10.20am in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach. This marks the beginning of the royal procession to Westminster Abbey.

11am: The religious ceremony will begin at 11am. Once Charles takes to the historic coronation chair, Camilla will be anointed, crowned, and enthroned in a shorter ceremony.

1pm: After the ceremony, the royals will travel back to Buckingham Palace in a second procession. This is a chance for the public to see the newly crowned King and Queen up close.

1.45pm: The Royal Salute will take place at 1.45pm. This is when the King and Queen are saluted on the West Terrace of Buckingham Palace’s garden.

2.15pm: Fifteen members of the royal family will congregate on the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony at 2.15pm to watch the flypast, made up of aircrafts from the British Armed Forces.
