Keep reading to find out what they are…

Lemon can disinfect chopping boards

It’s important to sanitise your chopping boards every time you use them, especially if you’re handling raw meat. Fortunately, you don’t need to fork out for expensive and toxic chemical cleaners to do the job.

Just take a lemon and some salt from your cupboard. Rub about a third of a cup of salt into the surface of the board and leave it to sit for 10 minutes. Then, cut the lemon in half and use it to rub the salt into the surface of the board, squeezing some of the juice out as you go. Rinse it with warm water, dry it with a clean cloth and you’re good to go!

Vinegar is great for cleaning glass-top stoves

Did you know that vinegar can cut through grease? This makes it ideal for kitchen cleaning. It’s safe to use on your induction or electric stovetop. Just fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water, spray the surface and leave it to sit. Wipe it away after about 15 minutes and you’ll be left with a shiny, clean surface.

Vinegar can also work wonders on hard water stains. Use it with soap and warm water to scrub your faucets and surfaces for a streak-free finish.

Baking soda is ideal for sinks

Don’t forget that your sink needs cleaning as well as your dishes! For a natural cleaning solution, try using a paste of baking soda and water.

Apply it to the basin. Leave it to do its magic for about 10 minutes, then scrub the sink with a sponge or scourer suitable for the material. Give it a rinse and dry it with a cloth, and your sink will look good as new.

Steam works wonders on microwaves

Been neglecting your microwave in your kitchen cleaning routine? Make light work of the task by loosening dirt and grime with steam.

Fill a small, microwave-safe dish with water, throwing in a wedge of lemon or some white vinegar for a deeper cleansing. Run the microwave for about three minutes, then wipe down the interiors.

Et voilà! You’re now equipped with a new set of cleaning hacks to help you take care of your kitchen.
