Haus Maids Guildford: 5 Jobs for Your Weekly Cleaning Schedule

Cleaning often feels like a never-ending chore. So much so, it can be tempting to just avoid cleaning responsibilities altogether.

It doesn’t have to be that way. By sticking to a regular cleaning schedule, you can tackle the mess a little bit at a time. With a little organisation and discipline, you’ll never have to feel overwhelmed and overstimulated again!

Below, our house cleaners in Guildford and Godalming have shared the top five jobs to include on your list. Let’s break them down…

Change your bedding

Washing and replacing your bed sheets might seem like a time-consuming task, but it’s crucial to your sleep quality and health. Wash your bedding every week (especially if you allow furry friends in your bed) to reduce allergens and prevent bacteria from growing.

Whilst you’re at it, we’d also recommend throwing your bath, hand and kitchen towels in the wash to ensure they’re always clean and fresh.

Scrub your tub (or shower)

The dirt, skin and oils that we wash off in the shower or bath linger after you’ve stepped out. Plus, bathrooms are damp areas where mould loves to grow. So, it’s essential to include your tub and/or shower in your weekly cleaning schedule to avoid grime and limescale building up.

Sanitise your sinks

We like to think of sinks as an extra set of dishes. They get used every day, so it makes sense to give them a proper clean!

Our favourite eco-friendly method for this task is to sprinkle baking soda over the damp sink surface and use it to scrub gently with a soft cloth. You can also put some extra powder down your drain and follow it with some white vinegar to help clear your drains. Just make sure you leave it to work for at least 30 minutes before running water again. Double-check that the mixture is safe for the material your sink is made from before starting, too.

Tackle your toilets

Toilets are an unavoidable addition to your weekly cleaning schedule. Make sure you thoroughly disinfect the whole unit and apply a toilet cleaner to keep stains, bacteria and limescale at bay.

Clean your floors

Having clean floors makes a huge difference to the overall look and feel of your living spaces. At a minimum, try to run a vacuum cleaner around every room and hallway in your house each week. Then, mop any hard floors with a purpose-made cleaner. Use a steam cleaner to tackle your carpets.

Don’t have a lot of free time to tackle every floor in your house? Prioritise the kitchen and bathrooms. These tend to accumulate dirt and moisture the fastest, so they’re the most important to keep on top of when it comes to hygiene.

Of course, if you’re strapped for time, you could always give our Guildford home cleaning experts a call.
