Treat spills straight away

Still left with a stain? Create a DIY stain treatment with a mixture of water, dish soap and white vinegar. Simply spray it onto the stain, then rinse it away with some clean water and blot dry. Just make sure you don’t get the carpet too wet, as this can lead to mould and warping. 

Use baking soda to fight odours 

Carpets take a lot of wear and tear and often hold onto bad smells. Fortunately, the baking soda in your cupboard can help! 

Sprinkle a generous amount of the powder over your carpets and leave it to sit overnight, then vacuum it up. This carpet cleaning hack is cheap, easy and will leave you with a fresher-smelling room in a jiffy. 

Vacuum every week 

Frequent vacuuming can help you prevent dirt and dust from becoming embedded in your carpet fibres. If you don’t always have time to cover every carpeted floor, focus on high-traffic areas where dirt and debris are more likely to build up.
