How to Clean a Bath: A Step-by-Step Guide by Haus Maids Farnham

Want to know how to clean a bath properly? You’ve come to the right place.

The bath is the perfect space to unwind after a long day. It offers a little window of warmth and privacy that’s just for you to soak off the stress of the day. However, it won’t leave you feeling at ease if you’re stewing in grime…

If your bath needs a little TLC, we’re here to tell you how to clean it like a pro. Keep reading for expert tips from our house cleaners in Farnham.

How to clean a bath in four simple steps

Step 1: Tidy up around your bath

It’ll be difficult to relax if you’re sitting in the tub staring at cluttered sinks, grubby mirrors and piles of used toilet rolls. So, before cleaning your bath, tidy up the rest of your bathroom.

Start by wiping down all surfaces and putting things back in their proper place. Then, remove everything from the sides of your bath so there’s nothing in the way when you start cleaning. Check out our recent article for more advice on how to keep a clean bathroom.

Step 2: Start with a thorough rinse

Now, you can move on to cleaning your tub. Start by removing hair, grime and other debris from your drains and surfaces. Then, give the whole bath a good rinse with warm water to help loosen and wash away any residue that remains.

Ideally, you’ll have access to a showerhead to help get the job done. If you don’t, fill up a bucket of hot water that you can use throughout the cleaning process.

Step 3: Start scrubbing!

Unfortunately, there’s no substitute for elbow grease if you’re learning how to clean a bath like the professionals do.

To make the job easier, apply a mixture of baking soda and washing-up liquid or a bathroom cleaner of your choice. Let it sit for about 15 minutes (or as long as your product recommends), then use a sponge to work it into stains and grout all around your bath.

Step 4: Rinse, dry and shine

Hopefully, your scrubbing job will have paid off. Rinse the whole area with warm water to wash away any lingering product residue and grime. Go back over any stubborn spots that haven’t lifted properly, repeating the process until you’re happy with the result.

Finally, you can dry your bath tiles and tub with a microfibre cloth to prevent water spots and mould from forming. If you really want a high-shine finish, spray some white vinegar over your surfaces before wiping it down again.

And there you have it! Your bath should be sparkling clean and ready for you to enjoy.
